<H2>KDX 1.2 -- UNICODE</H2>
KDX now uses Unicode for text, the international standard which supports al
l languages in the world. Previously, KDX only supported Latin characters (fre&
#120; it couldn't display Japanese, Russian, Greek text etc). Many peo
ple have been [directly or indirectly] requesting that KDX support Unicode, and
now it is done.
<P>
Due to the switch to Unicode, this version of KDX can connect with the previous
version, however the text may be somewhat mutilated. It's best to avoi
d mixing different versions. Also, text created using previous versio
ns of KDX can suffer the same problem. This is a nuisance, but only temporarily
, and the upgrade to unicode is worth it.
<P>
<B>Windows:</B> Haxial strongly recommends that you use Wi
ndows NT/2000/XP and not Windows 95/98/ME. NT/200&#
48;/XP natively support Unicode, whereas 95/98/ME only support it partia
lly via emulation. Because KDX is now a Unicode program, it is NOT guaranteed t
o work in 95/98/ME.

<H2>Incompatible With Previous Versions</H2>
Due to the many new features that were added to KDX in this update, KDX 1.&#
49; is incompatible with older versions (including trackers). Sorry for the inc
onvenience. Everyone who purchased 1.0 can upgrade to this version (inc
luding integrated NetFone) for no additional cost.
<H2>Address Book -- MUST BACKUP!</H2>
The Address Book format has changed. After using this version, your settings fi
le will be updated and incompatible with older versions of KDX. So make a backu
p before you run KDX 1.1.
<P>
The file that you need to backup is the file named "KDX.stg" located in
the same folder as KDXClient -- this is the settings file, and it includes your
address book. We recommend that you simply backup the whole KDX folder.
